The Biggest Obstacle to Your Growth in 2025
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers." Psalm 1:1-3
The change of the calendar from one year to the next is perhaps the most overhyped change there is. Pastors aren't immune to this either. We eagerly plan January sermon series that promise revolutionary life change that often falls far short of that. Why?
It's because the change over of your calendar to 2025 changes absolutely nothing. The only way change will come in your life is if you make a change. Your life will remain exactly the same as it was last year unless you do something different this year.
The great news is that even small changes in your life can produce exponential results. Most of the time, however, we are unwilling to consider this because it requires action on our part. We prefer the fiction that God will just intervene in some supernatural stroke while we sit on the couch.
Impatience and the dream of a quick fix might be your biggest obstacle to changing and growing in 2025. Too many people start off a new year looking for an instant change. The most significant growth in your life will not happen because of a moment of inspiration but because of daily determination.
What are you going to do differently today? Answer that and that will tell you what to expect in 2025. Take a page from the Psalmist and discipline yourself this year to daily delight in God's Word. It will change your life!
